School Days
My independent life began at the University of Louisville in 1989 where I majored in English and minored in Political Science.
To become a "well- rounded" student I joined a sorority with six other wonderful individuals, Angie, Kim (my biological sister), Elisa, Crystal, Monique, and Melissa. Those women are now lifelong friends. Both during and after becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., life came knocking louder than I'd ever remembered. The experiences that I encountered etched both good and bad impressions that stuck with me.
I consider my college years the time of my "right of passage" into adulthood. They were trying times and it was in college that I had to learn to accept my shortcomings and flaws.
Tid bit: Back then I wanted to own my own magazine publishing company. I walked around with a mock-up of a black teen magazine that I hoped to create. Little did I know that I would found a book publishing company.
